HOW TO GET TO ANDORRA

Andorra is only accessible by road – Unfortunately no train stations or airports in this small country.


BY CAR, MOTORCYCLE OR BIKE From Spain, you can access the C-145 road from Lleida and the C-16 from the Cadí or Puigcerdà tunnel. From the Spanish border follow signs for France, until Sant Pere del Tarter (signposted) and located on the left, which is 5.5 km after passing the village of Canillo.
From the French border, take the N-22 through Pas de la Casa (direction Andorra la Vella, until Sant Pere del Tarter (signposted) and located on the right, which is 2 km after passing through Soldeu

BY TRAIN
The AVE allows traveling from Madrid to Lleida (www.renfe.com). From there, the coaches of Viatges Montmantell link daily with Andorra. Viatges Montmantell 
From France, the nearest train station to Andorra is Hospitalet-près-l’Andorre. You can see the options for train travel from France by SNCF But from this station, there is no bus connection with Andorra. The only option to connect Hospitalet-près-l’Andorre station with Andorra is by taxi, and it is neither easy nor cheap. The cheapest option is the «Taxi Altitud Pas de la Casa». HOW TO GET TO MOUNTAIN HOSTEL TARTER FROM ANDORRA LA VELLA

If you are travelling on your own it is very likely that you will first arrive in the capital – Andorra La Vella. Mountain Hostel Tarter is in the village of El Tarter, which is 20km from the centre of Andorra La Vella. There are several options to reach the hostel:

  • If you are coming from Barcelona Airport or Toulouse with ANDBUS (ANDBUS) we recommend you hire the door-to-door service. For a surcharge, the same bus will take you to El Tarter. When you buy the ticket ask for El Tarter bus stop. If you book the ticket online choose as destination ALBERG MOUNTAIN HOSTEL TARTER.
  • From Andorra La Vella you can take a taxi right to the hostel door. It costs around 30-35 €.
  • Also, there is a regular bus service. To get to El Tarter, you must take the bus L4. The L4 bus is operational all year round. Bus between Andorra la Vella and Pas de la Casa. The start and end of the line are the same NATIONAL BUS STATION (where long distance buses arrive and depart). The frequency is between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the time of day and the day of the week. Don’t forget to ask for the stop EL TARTER (151). Note that the last bus from Andorra la Vella and from Pas de la Casa is at 9:15 p.m. And the first bus of the day from El Tarter to Andorra la Vella is at 7:30 am. https://bus.ad/linia-andorra-pasdelacasa/ The price for the Andorra la Vella – El Tarter route is € 4 per person per way.

 

HOW TO GET TO MOUNTAIN HOSTEL TARTER FROM THE BUS STOP OF EL TARTER

Once you get to the El Tarter bus stop from Andorra La Vella, you have to walk about 100 meters in the same direction of the bus route. Look for a large sign, at the foot of the road, indicating Dylan’s Restaurant and continue in the same direction. Once past the restaurant, the hostel is on the next corner on the right. The entrance is directly in front of the small church of Sant Pere del Tarter. Although slightly uphill, this should take no longer than 5 and 10 minutes walking!
